A personal trainer is a specialist that is has undergone the requisite training and education for general physical fitness. It has been described as a science and art that analyzes the fitness of a person and prescribes the appropriate measures to rectify the weakness detected therein. Screening is the process of evaluating the medical and physical health of a patient to determine whether they will fit a particular training regime. During such screening specialists are keen on identifying conditions like obesity, blood pressure, and diabetes. The evaluation extensively analyses the medical history of a client, biochemical problems, current medications and chronic illnesses.

Fitness assessment

The foregoing functions of a trainer are a pursued to assess the fitness and determine a regime that is tailor-made to suit a particular client. Fitness assessment could include the determination of a client’s percentage of body fat and muscle. These tests are done through a body composition test and a muscle endurance test respectively.

Diet and training

The implementation of a crafted training regime will need the client to observe a specific diet in order to for it to be fruitful. Trainers are required to stipulate the level of consumption of calories, protein, and carbohydrates that are acceptable, with the help of tables and charts.
